Daniel Webster is a small school with a tight knit and well integrated community. Your kids will get to know all the students in their grade. Our Monday Morning Circles and community events like Pasta Night bring everyone together.
What sets Daniel Webster Apart?
A history of strong parent involvement and parent-led initiatives to improve the school. The can-do attitude that kept the school open in the face of two SFUSD-threatened closures has served to galvanize our school community, grow our fundraising, and keep needed resources flowing into the school.
A small, intimate, school where everyone gets to know you and your child’s name. Being small is a big deal for ensuring everyone gets individual attention both in the classroom and on the yard. Our staff of top-notch teachers, counselors and administrators work as a team and get to know every student so that they are comprehensively cared for and educated on a very personal level.
A strong link to and support from the Potrero Hill community: DW has been both physically and symbolically in the heart of Potrero Hill since it was opened in 1936. We have octogenarian volunteers who went to DW seventy years ago, and many current parents who are alumni.
Daniel Webster is a continuing success story. Because we’re a turn-around school, there is an attitude of openness that welcomes new ideas and approaches to problem solving.
What Parents say about us
Being a part of this community makes me feel very proud. I like that Daniel Webster is a small school with a very active and diverse community. Many parents work as volunteers in and out of the classroom. The teachers are great, and provide excellent communication with us. My daughter loves her teachers, she is now reading in both Spanish and English.
I am extremely happy with the school. I chose Daniel Webster for its neighborhood feeling and the immersion program. My daughter’s Spanish is fantastic, and I’m sure she’ll be fluent by third grade. The families I’ve met have become friends, as well as leaders in growing the school community. We are all thriving in this environment.
I love Daniel Webster because my son is really happy here with his friends and his teacher. It’s a thriving environment that has really helped my son to grow.
We love Daniel Webster because it is a central part of the amazing Potrero Hill community. Meghan is getting a great education while building lasting relationships with her friends from DW.
